Why I Think That Ending Our Own Life Isn’t Worth It

I heard from the news this week about how the rate of people who suffers from anxiety and mental problems is getting high mostly because of the situation we are experiencing today. Most people are worried about their careers, businesses and other things that matter to them. Personally, I even felt the same thing when this pandemic started but I’m lucky that I handled it well.

I keep mentioning on my other posts about how I really don’t like watching and listening to the news because of its negativity it can bring to me. However, there are some days that I can’t avoid seeing some disturbing news on my feed like people who commit suicides. It’s very disturbing.

I used to ask my self if I can do something horrible like that to myself and I always end up answering ‘no’ because I believe that it isn’t worth it. I believe that the bad things that are happening to us are just temporary. Some may think that it’s easy for me to say this because I’m not in their position and I don’t know anything with what they’re going through. I understand that and here’s my side.

I hold on to the idea that life is a kind of gift that will never be owned by us and it should be cherished while it lasts. We shouldn’t waste it because whether we’re ready to not, it’ll be taken away from us so it’s best to enjoy it and use our time doing what we love. We have been given an opportunity to do something good in this world because that’s what our creator expects to do.

It isn’t worth it because ending our life isn’t going to be the solution to our problem. Yes, we’ll no longer suffer but what about the people we left behind? Just trying to picture out in my mind my Mom crying in front of my lifeless body makes my heart wrench and it might break my heart too in a million pieces. Even the vision of my friends trying to reach out to me because they still don’t know that I’m already gone.

It’s easy to act but if we consider first the people we love and how are they going to feel about it, then it might change our minds and even our hearts. Life is beautiful and problems are part of it. I hope people will be always reminded of that.

Thank you so much for reading!
