I decided to write about the things that make me happy because I want to remind myself how lucky I am than other people. If you read my post about what I am grateful for, I can say that this is the continuation of that article.
Every morning when I wake up, I make sure that I say my prayers, thank God for allowing me to open my eyes and be ready for a new day. And when I’m about to go to sleep, I do the same thing; thank Him for keeping me safe and letting me go to rest after a long day.
We, especially on social media, tend to rant and complain about how bored we are because of the situation going on around the world. No one wants that to happen. Maybe it’s one of the ways of God letting us know that we shouldn’t take all the things we have for granted. And even on normal days, complaining is probably already part of our daily routine.
Here are the simple things that make me happy:
I spend my days with my Mom.
She’s the main reason why I went home. Although she keeps on telling us that we should find our luck somewhere else instead of staying at home, I chose to be with her because even if she doesn’t say it, she needs someone beside her. After all, she’s not getting young. She’s my Mom but after spending more time with her, it made me realized if I really know her. That’s why I’m too glad that I have this chance and I’ll forever be thankful for this moment.
I’m capable of doing what I want to do.
Last month, my Mom and I went to the mall. I let her have full body massage while I buy groceries. When I got back, she told me a story about the blind lady who did the massage on her. She got blind when she turned 20 because of glaucoma. She met her husband when she entered an institution for people who have special needs. They don’t have kids on their own. It made me think that it must be hard and heartbreaking for the lady to accept the fact that she can no longer see like she used to. If I ever I’m in her position, I wouldn’t know what to do.
I have the freedom that others don’t have.
When I scroll on my news feed, I see some sad news that some people are suffering because of the kind of governance they have. The lack of freedom of speech is one of the things they can’t have. Even if I have this kind of opportunity, I still keep in mind that I should use this responsibly. Instead of spreading negativity and untrue stories, I’ll use it to inspire and motivate other people to do the same thing.
I have the most wonderful people in my life.
I can’t see myself living in this world without these people that I have in my life right now. They are the reasons why I can still smile despite all the challenges that I’ve faced and I’m going to face in the coming days. I may not see them every single day, I know that they’re just one call and message away from me.
I hope you find this post encouraging so you’ll make your own list to and take some time to appreciate all the simple things that make you happy.
Thank you so much for reading!
