Am I the only one who gets annoyed when people ask me if I have a job now? If not, then you can relate to this article. I find it insulting when people don’t mind their businesses. You can ask someone what’s keeping them busy instead of asking if they have work or none rather.
I recently created a new Facebook account (although I said I won’t be coming back anymore) for business purposes. I started a handmade hair accessories business a month ago and for people to find it, aside from posting it on online selling platforms, I included Facebook too. I let my old friends know about it and one of them asked about me not applying for a job again. I told her that I decided to open a business instead. End of conversation.
I was on a hiatus for 2 years or so, and I understand that some people are curious about what I’ve been doing all this time. I didn’t even ask what they were doing with their lives not because I don’t care but because I know how to mind my business. Don’t get me wrong, I like hearing updates now and then. But I’m no longer the type of person who posts everything on social media because I like the idea of enjoying every moment of my life privately.
I’m consciously making my life choices now. I take my time and I don’t want to put pressure on myself just because people around me are having a good time with their lives. I used to feel anxious about my life not being on the same smooth path as theirs but I realized that we’re all different people. That also means different personalities, phases, decisions, and choices. I’m trying to enjoy every second of my life in the present so I won’t feel any regret in the future.
